His connection with the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal (which reversed the flow of the Chicago river) is most likely false. There's several incorrect sources online that credit him with the work. I'm researching what, if any, role he had in the project at the Chicago Historical Society and Chicago Public Library over the next few weeks. ChrisMcAvoy (talk) 13:22, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

• My DYKcheck tool indicated that this has not quite been 5x expanded recently, although it's close by some 200 characters. This was also confirmed by a "manual" count (using an external website). Original prose size was 798 characters, so the expanded article needs at least 3990. JTtheOG (talk) 02:49, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
• Otherwise, the expansion is new enough, the article is fully sourced and well-written (made a small cosmetic edit), and there are no identifiable copyvio concerns. The hook fact is cited and in the article, as well as being interesting enough. Lastly, QPQ is done. This should be ready to go after the above issue is addressed.
