I believe that the revision just made was erroneous. "funder" is probably correct.

About halfway through, there are some pronouns whose referents are unclear, and the thread of the piece starts to unravel. Is this temporally organized as a history of the organization?

Jimmie F. Rodgers beating claims?

[edit]

In the article for Jimmie Rodgers (pop singer), who suffered severe head injuries during a traffic stop (whether from an accidental fall or a beating is much disputed), the article mentions that "singer Tommy James wrote that Morris Levy, the Mafia-connected head of Roulette Records, had arranged the attack in response to Rodgers' repeated demands for unpaid royalties he was due by the label." I thought about transcribing this accusation this article, but I'm torn about whether it should be included as it is simply a claim from another person's autobiography without other evidence.
