Rodrigo Paz Pereira → Rodrigo Paz – In both English- and Spanish-language sources, the subject is referred to as Rodrigo Paz, but rarely by his full name. These sources include the BBC, AP, El País (2), Reuters, CNN.  PLATEL  (talk) 16:08, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Support per nom. It seems perfectly reasonable. After all, it's common practice to give only the paternal surname and omit the maternal surname in the title, as we can see in articles such as Francisco Franco whose maternal surname was Bahamonde, or Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada whose maternal surname is Sánchez Bustamante. The page name "Rodrigo Paz Pereira" makes some sense because Latin America already had a Rodrigo Paz president, Rodrigo Paz Delgado, but in that case he was referred to by his full name, so it's worth just putting the Distinguish template after the renaming.  PLATEL  (talk) 20:06, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Another thing, if my math is correct, 50 of the pages assiged to presidents of Bolivia are Paternal names only, 12 are Paternal and Maternal, whilst 2 are paternal and don't list the Maternal name, whilst 1 is Maternal only. The move therefore would put the page in line with the overwhelming majority of pages about Bolivian Presidents. Eustathius (talk) 21:41, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

I'll add that when I created this article, I only added the maternal surname because "Rodrigo Paz" was taken up by the article for "Rodrigo Paz Delgado" – he was the primary topic at the time. The page Rodrigo Paz was disambiguated after the first round of the 2025 Bolivian election. It's clear now that Rodrigo Paz Pereira has usurped Rodrigo Paz Delgado as the primary topic, given that the former is a head of state while the latter was only a mayor. Oppose if we are going to shorten his name why don't we shorten his father's, who was also President of Bolivia, Jaime Paz Zamora and like User:PLATEL said, there is already one Rodrigo Paz from latin america who also served as a President. I'd note that the reason the article for Jaime Paz Zamora includes the maternal surname is because "Jaime Paz" was never the MOS:COMMONNAME. This is because at the time Paz Zamora was active in politics, there was also another prominent Paz, former president Víctor Paz Estenssoro, so contemporary sources would say "Paz Zamora" and "Paz Estenssoro" to avoid confusion – even when the singular "Paz" was used, it typically referred to Paz Estenssoro.

On another note, Rodrigo Paz Delgado never seems to have served as president, only being a presidential candidate. Given that, I'd say Rodrigo Paz the president is the primary topic over Rodrigo Paz the mayor. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 05:26, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
