Not enough

The story of Robert Peace is deep-seated in our American society, despite decades of protests for change, acceptance and understanding inequality and inequity. It’s the year 2025 and this story is a master piece! More than an eye opener, merely 3 years ago, we still had a high disproportionate reality of poverty by race, regardless of any progression we might raise of systemic racism. In 2022, 9.9% of whites lived in poverty, whites accounted for 59.2% of the population which signifies that 97% of the white population doesn’t live in poverty. Blacks on the other hand account for 12% of the population and 21.3% live in poverty, which means only 56% of the population does not live in poverty. Blacks accounted for less than half of the u.s. population compared to whites yet almost half the black population lives in poverty. It would have been reasonable and honorable for Wikipedia to shed light on this disproportion and add substance to Rob Peace’s story. But it wasn’t, the main focus point mentioned more than once was his history of selling Marijuana - yet the “why” and “what” is missing in this encyclopedia resource. Don’t get me wrong, this is not just targeted to Wikipedia, it’s targeted to all media sources that lack integrity towards societal inequality and inequity. If our online sources cannot provide it in this era, when will their be actual change and progress? When will the indifferences come to an end? Just sharing my thoughts in hopes for in-depth, integral online resources, diligent research and discussions on stories/topics such as this excellent story of a brilliant man who’s potential was extinguished by systemic racism in our society that claims progress and evolution despite statistics proving otherwise.
