Notability, references

[edit]

I have done my best to write this article in Wikipedia style. It is particularly difficult to supply documentary references for actors' careers as every job is separate, but I have shelvesful of theatre reference works from which I have tried to supply references for sources. I am weak on the technical editing of Wikipedia articles, but I presume cross-references can also be added to IMDb, the Royal Shakespeare Company website, The Stage website and so on, on all of which the subject of this article appears. I am surprised at the suggestion of non-notability, as the career compares so strongly with many existing articles. Anyway I have done my best with it for now, and certainly hope such an interesting life will not be deleted. I am grateful for any assistance or guidance.

I have removed the "unreferenced" tag, and unless any other user strongly objects I will also remove the "notability" tag, as in my opinion the subject satisfies WP:N. More references for the later part of Marsden's life would be useful though. Karenjc 20:35, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
And I removed the "notability" tag - clearly a notable actor. Can we get some more bio details such as place of death, spouse's name and year of marriage and divorce, is there a free-use pic around that we can add to the ibox? - ukexpat (talk) 21:16, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Photo

[edit]

There is a free-use picture of the subject (in his prime) which I am emailing to photosubmission. I have added his place of death, and will compile and add further bio details and references. Many thanks. Rogersansom (talk) 08:55, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dates

[edit]

I think 1966 is the best end date to give for the subject's acting career. He continued as a private teacher of drama, and I heard him on radio much later - but I think '39-'66 is a fair estimate.

Search indexing

[edit]

This recently created article seems not to be indexed at present - inasmuch as I understand how things work on the net. It does not respond to searching on the name or on the name + Wikipedia.

Much the same thing as the above has happened again - now it responds on Google but not on Yahoo. Can anything be done to improve this? (I know other entries that are the same or similar.)

Same seems to happen regularly!

I think it's just a matter of being patient while the indexers catch up. But that should not be a problem as we are here to build an encyclopedia, not generate Google page rankings!  ukexpat (talk) 16:30, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The last two External Links no longer seem to work. I think the RSC's archive has changed, and I guess you have to pay to access The Times now. Rogersansom (talk) 18:24, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
