Lincoln and the First Shot

I question this paragraph:

"His 1963 book Lincoln and the First Shot sought to dispel many myths about Lincoln, including the theory that some of the members of his cabinet were in on the assassination conspiracy. Current described how Lincoln built a unity of purpose in the Northern states before the Civil War began in earnest, claiming that Lincoln had a more sophisticated knowledge of law, economics, and military tactics than earlier historians had believed."

I read Lincoln and the First Shot a couple of years ago, and I remember its being a short book focused on the lead-up to Fort Sumter. I cannot imagine that it even mentioned the assassination, and I am skeptical that it addressed how Lincoln built a unity of purpose in the Northern states or Lincoln's knowledge of law, economics, and military tactics. But I may have forgotten, so, if anyone has read the book more recently, please see whether editing the above sentences is necessary. Perhaps the Wikipedia editor who wrote those sentences meant to refer to a different book. Maurice Magnus (talk) 09:53, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
