Although a stub for Rhys Williams (Canadian actor) was created in April 2010, the header for the article in question remained unchanged for another five years, until August 2015, when it was unilaterally moved, first to Rhys Williams (Welsh American actor) and then to the hyphenated Rhys Williams (Welsh-American actor). It remained under that header for yet another five years, until September 2020, when it was again unilaterally moved to its present form, Rhys Williams (Welsh actor). The nomination contends that subject is a Welsh-born American actor in the same manner that Bob Hope is an English-born American actor. Unlike actors such as James Mason or Michael Rennie who had extensive careers in British theatre and cinema before arriving in Hollywood, Rhys Williams and Bob Hope arrived in the U.S. at a young age and devoted their entire lengthy careers to the American theater, cinema and television. • Comment, was Williams given U.S. citizenship? We can't assume such. Hope did become one and moved at ~5 years old (per his article). Per this article Williams' first performance on Broadway was at ~33, not as young, and his first film at ~44 that was about Wales? So confused about the rationale. He may merely be Welsh but got a lot of roles in the US. So some source discussing his nationality would be appreciated. DankJae 16:23, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
• Comment. He could also be moved back to Rhys Williams (actor) per WP:INCDAB since he's the clear WP:primary topic between the two actors. That would negate the Welsh/Anerican/Welsh-American question. Station1 (talk) 19:49, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

• Oppose - Anthony Hopkins is another example of a Welsh actor who has lived in the US for many year, and indeed holds dual citizenship, but we don't describe him in the lead as a Welsh-American actor. There's no evidence for, or indeed mention of, Williams taking US citizenship. I think it's just fine as it stands, although (actor) would do if the non-notable Canadian is deleted. • Oppose, on the basis we have more proof he was Welsh than American - for example he was used as the dialogue coach on How Green Was My Valley which strongly suggests he grew up in South Wales and knew the local accent well.
