name evolution

[edit]

The article says that the original name was תל רעים (Tel Re'im) and that it eventually became just רעים (Re'im). In the 1952 Israel Government Yearbook, it is listed as "Beit Re'im (Beit Qama)". I also have 1955 and 1957 maps published by the Survey of Israel on which it appears as בית רעים (Beit Re'im). So some part of the name story is missing. In many places Tel Re'im is given as a name for the nearby Tell Jemmeh even today, rather than for the kibbutz. Zerotalk 06:07, 12 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Palestinian History

[edit]

Editing is locked, but this town was not founded in 1949. It was Palestinian, and had a different name before being captured and occupied. I do not speak Arabic however, will search for it. ~2026-55680-2 (talk) 00:49, 26 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
