Ray/Ron

[edit]

The database sources used in this article appear to mix up the names between Ray and Ron Ainsworth. One played for North Sydney in 1943, the other played for St George in 1946:

  • NRL Stats, Stats.rleague.com, and Yesterday's Hero: North Sydney (Ray) / St George (Ron)
  • Rugby League Project: North Sydney (Ron) / St George (Ray)

Newspapers articles (Trove.nla.gov.au) indicate that Ron played for North Sydney - (http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article158280430 - Ron Ainsworth, Winger To Play League With Waratah-Mayfield (1946, January 30). The Newcastle Sun, p. 16.) and Ray played for St George (http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article231549395 - St. George Centre Out For Season (1947, May 5). The Sun, p. 11). To add to the confusion - RLP lists Ray Ainsworth as playing for "The Rest (Northern Union)" vs The Army in 1943 (https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/matches/dates/29-august-1943/army-firsts-vs-the-rest.html) whereas The Rugby League News states it to be Ron (http://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-628928609 - "North Sydney" Vol. 24 No. 19 (August 28, 1943) p.5) but in the same edition has "Roy Ainsworth" ("RESURGENCE of NORTH SYDNEY CLUB PREMIERSHIP WITHIN REACH" p.3).
