The fourth sentence of the 'Career' section states:

Major Rashid was part of the team that attacked the residence of Abdur Rab Serniabat and killed him.

It's unclear if this is a typographical error (Rashed ==> Rashid) or if the article is conflating the actions of two persons, Major Rashed Chowdhury and Major Khandaker Abdur Rashid.

The article referenced (currently footnote 5) does not clarify the matter.

A current Politico opinion piece lays out the argument that Chowdhury did not participate in the assasinations.

This is a critical ambiguity. In his application for asylum, Major Rashed Chowdhury claimed that he was a last-minute participant, that he was part of a team which secured a radio station, and that he did not participate in any killings.

If the current text is in error, and given the current efforts by the Justice Department to revoke Chowdhury's asylum, resolution of this question becomes very significant. The current text leaves no doubt as to Chowdhury's guilt.

Perhaps this:

At his trial in absentia, the Bangladeshi government asserted that Major Chowdhury was part of the team that attacked the residence of Abdur Rab Serniabat and killed him.^[1] However, during several proceedings in U.S. Immigration Court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals, Chowdhury maintained that he did not participate in any killings. The Statement was from the confessional statement of Major Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan. I think this info can be added to the suggested change which would improve the article.Vinegarymass911 (talk) 15:55, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
