Talk:Radical interpretation

I rewrote this article so that it would accurately address that RI is Davidson's but also state that it is related to RT. Furthermore, I distinguish between the wide and narrow conceptions of radical interpretation Davidson uses. The edit by Infrangible ("Was not clear what this article is about") is inaccurate. Radical interpretation is just what was said before -- it is just a technical term for interpretation of a person when you don't have any previous translation to fall back on and no specific pre-established knowledge of their mental states. It has a role to play in Davidson's philosophy -- which does include the idea that words have meaning through people's use and intentions. But this is a much broader topic, and the radical interpretation and the situation of a "radical interpreter" admits of use and discussion by those with very different views.--71.198.0.78 01:00, 18 February 2007 (UTC).
