"Benefits to Human Health" section
[edit]This section reads like a brochure from a naturopath's office rather than a simple summary of the nutritional aspects of edible prunus species. I'd like to remove the whole section & replace it with a single paragraph titled "nutritional and culinary uses" or somesuch, highlighting the main nutritional aspects & human foodways. "Other uses" might include the manufacture of cyanide compounds, the use of fruit wood in woodworking and flavoring, etc. But before I commit to tracking down citations, I would like to hear what others think? - Agree entirely, so have deleted the section as you suggest. Unfortunately, that misinformation has existed for years. I will review the nutritional information for the individual Prunus fruit articles mentioned.
- As this article is about the genus, specifics for each fruit should be linked to the respective fruit article, and a summary of general uses for the genus would be appropriate, as you propose. Zefr (talk) 18:19, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- The nutritional and phytochemical information for the articles on cherry, almond, plum, apricot, and peach (including nectarine) are accurate, up-to-date, sourced appropriately, and neutrally discussed.
- By definition, phytochemicals in these Prunus fruits are specific botanical characteristics, and are not nutrients, as they have no recommended dietary intake levels, and no WP:MEDRS-established effects on human health. Zefr (talk) 19:11, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
