Naming

so it is not obvious from the title what an article is about. I suggest the word "province" to be included in the article title for all these entities. Furthermore the common way in en:WP to name provinces that are country subdivisions is X Province, see Category talk:Provinces for an overview. Schwyz (talk) 15:52, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Berlin
[edit]Within both the German Empire and the Weimar Republic Berlin was separate from Brandenburg. The text acknowledges so but the maps do not. Sandjaar (talk) 21:11, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
Province of Prussia, 1824 or 1829?
[edit]There is a date discrepancy between the article Province of Prussia and the article West Prussia. Province of Prussia uses 1824 as the date East and West Prussia joined to form the Province of Prussia, but the West Prussia article uses 1829. This article and the one on East Prussia use both. Categories and templates also use both. The confusion comes because the provinces joined in a "personal union" under Oberpräsident Schön in 1824 but didn't formally merge until 1829. See here for one online source (in German) that reference both years.
We really need to decide which date to use in the Wiki articles, templates, etc. I would tend to favor 1829, since the idea of a personal union under an appointed officeholder seems a bit odd, since the term is usually used with monarchs. Please chime in if you have an opinion or a really good source. I'll copy this post to the West Prussia and Province of Prussia talk pages and monitor all 3.
