According to the encyclopedia of life, this genus is actually the genus polymorphus... is there any conclusion reached as to its proper name?

There are two genera of acanthocephalan parasites. One is Polymorphus and one is Profilicollis. The species described in the article were previously placed in the genus Polymorphus, but they have been placed into a separate genus, Profilicollis, which is how they are currently referred to in the literature. The Wiki encyclopedia of life should be updated, as should this page.

a new polymorphus page

[edit]

Right now the links to Polymorphus and Profilicollis both take you to the Profilicollis page (because I moved the info from Polymorphus to Profilicollis since the species described were in that group). How do I now go back and make another page for the Polymorphus genus? Sorry if I have unintentionally made this complicated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandcraby16 (talkcontribs) 07:12, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have made the separate polymorphus page, please update the species list of both pages so that none are listed twice Mattximus (talk) 21:30, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I added more details on the other Profilicollis species so it is more complete. Sandcraby16 (talk) 22:43, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
