Confuses the reader.

"Private Music will be the first Deftones album without bassist Sergio Vega since Saturday Night Wrist (2006)

The sentence was added for two reasons, one: it's not known if Fred Sablan or anyone else in the band actually played bass on this album, and two: it says it will be their first without Sergio Vega since Saturday Night Wrist because that was the last album Deftones recorded and released (if not counting Eros) before he joined the band. Maybe so, but chronologically it just an odd sentence, to choose Saturday... instead of Ohms

"This is the first album without Sergio on bass since Ohms". Makes more sense in my head.

I can't be the first that stopped in their track when reading the current line.

Several users have tried to delete or modify this sentence, so it's clearly causing confusion. Perhaps it would be best to reword it to: "Private Music will be the first album released following bassist Sergio Vega's departure after having recorded and toured with Deftones from 2009 to 2021." This way there's no dispute over whether SNW or Ohms is the correct album to mention in this context. Fezmar9 (talk) 17:53, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

You seem to have no problem dicktating how sources should be provided yet never give any. Why if your so sure they are not providing the proper sources why not provide them? You seem to know them, provide them then. Ppl want to be informed on the genres of the albums out there and yet all you do is take that away from them. There are plenty of sources out there at this point to choose from. Do so, so ur not ruining it for everyone. 99% sure that what was put early was that genre they were providing in this album. @174.91.162.84: First off, please be more civil by only critiquing edits and refraining from name calling and telling other editors to fk off. It doesn't bother me personally but it does go against Wikipedia policy see: WP:No personal attacks. Second, I have looked for sources and couldn't find any. Attempts of finding sources for alternative metal just results in sources calling the band alternative metal, not the album. It's a lot harder finding reliable sources that explicitly support genres than you would think. See WP:EXPLICITGENRE and WP:GENREWARRIOR. Adding unsourced genres like you have been doing is disruptive. Wikipedia editors should not be adding genres based on their own opinion. Also please remember, Wikipedia is a work in progress and no article is perfect. This article does need a lot of work and that's okay. There is not a time limit on Wikipedia. I'm not making any of this up, and I never said anyone is "getting hurt by having the genres put in regardless of sources." I am simply following Wikipedia guidelines, and you should too. If you read the links I provided, you would know that you are supposed to include sources for the genres you add. You can't base it on your own opinion. Plus, continuing to make personal attacks and insults can get you blocked, again: Wikipedia:No personal attacks. We are here to discuss improvements to the article; we are not here to insult each other. It doesn't hurt my feelings; it's just that personal attacks go against Wikipedia policy. As far as AllMusic goes, you are partially right. Allmusic is a reliable source, but you must be careful when using it. The actual AllMusic review itself doesn't describe the album as any particular genre. The genres you are referring to are not considered reliable by Wikipedia standards and cannot be used. The review itself must actually describe the album as the genre explicitly. Those genres listed at the top are not reliable at all. (per WP:ALLMUSIC). I'm am not just here to remove content. If I found sources that supports genres for this album I would add them. I do that all the time, but I can't find any sources for the genres with this album. Plus I told u distortedsound was another website that was creditable. They list the genres at the beginning of every review and it takes two seconds to figure that out. Please stop basing genres in you opinion. I have made it very clear that it is not acceptable on Wikipedia. I looked at the Distorted Sound review. The Distorted Sound review only listed genres at the top and they didn't explicitly describe the album as those genres in the review. If the review itself doesn't describe the album as the genres, we can't use it. Please actually look for sources for the genres. If you follow Wikipedia guidelines you'll see that is harder to find good sources for genres than you think. If I would have found any 8 would have added them by now.
