Lack of any citations

[edit]

The pages has a complete lack of citation, and the only one "source" is almost unrelated to Gramsci or Prison Notebooks. I have hence, added citation lacking template even though there's supposedly one source.Appoox 20:26, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Gendered language

[edit]

In some sections the entry describes Gramsci's views and refers to "man" ... and perhaps Gramsci did think that men had a monopoly on intellectualism, politics, and culture. See for example, "He was impressed by the power Roman Catholicism had over men's minds ...". Did he not care about the Church's power over women's minds?

In other sections, the entry appears to use gendered language in its own prose: "Furthermore, philosophy and science do not 'reflect' a reality independent of man, but rather are only 'true' in that they express the real developmental trend of a given historical situation."

Would anyone be opposed to adjusting the language to gender-neutral in many of these cases?

WP:GENDER specifies this in bullet two, things like "all of man" to refer to all people should be avoided, and this article should be updated to reflect that Jakevossen5 (talk) 16:42, 23 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Would they be useful for Wikipedia? How should I go about uploading them? ReaderOfSci-FiNovelsAndPhilosophy (talk) 13:57, 7 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @ReaderOfSci-FiNovelsAndPhilosophy Most photographs for Wikipedia (and other Wikimedia projects) are upload to Wikimedia Commons. You can find other photos of the Notebooks in this Commons Category . I believe the Notebooks are still protected by copyright, so you wouldn't want to upload images for the purpose of reproducing the text. Good luck! -- Jaireeodell (talk) 15:19, 7 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Thanks for answering. I believe in Italy, copyright duration is the author’s lifetime plus 70 years. Gramsci died in 1937. I have many more pics, at least 1 of every notebook I believe, and closeups of text. ReaderOfSci-FiNovelsAndPhilosophy (talk) 20:04, 7 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
