Sorry! New to Wikipedia and participating in an effort to add and strengthen biographies of women scientists of color. Not sure if this is the right way to do this, but I have edited the lead to this article with more information about what makes this person "notable" in response to the maintenance template from Bender235 (wish I knew how to @you!). Given these revisions, I think it's appropriate to remove the header. Please let me know if I have not fulfilled the criteria as laid out on the Wikipedia:Notability(people) page.
