There's the usual good technical description of the E-40 in Jane's 1938 and that is almost the only source I've been able to find. The other two refs given have a photo and a registration record (OK-EDA, c/n 1, 1938, to the Ministry of Public Works). Nothing on dates, numbers, tests, military or civil etc. There might be more in V. Němeček, Československá letadla, Naše Vojsko, Praha 1968, if anyone has it and can translate Czech into English.
