Post Danmark A/S is not a defunct company
[edit]For some reason the text of this article claims that Post Danmark A/S is a defunct company. According to this source (https://datacvr.virk.dk/enhed/virksomhed/26663903?fritekst=post%2520danmark&sideIndex=0&size=10) the company is still very much active. Post Danmark A/S is the company that holds the Danish postal concession, which means the right and duty of providing postal service to all households in Denmark. Post Denmark A/S is owned by PostNord AB and uses their trademarks and livery with the exceptions of the red post boxes and the royal Danish postal logo. 2A02:AA1:1626:2650:6558:7745:55A5:3FC7 (talk) 20:45, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Post Danmark A/S is still the UPU-designated carrier
[edit]Post Danmark no longer delivers letters in Denmark from year change 2026. However, dao has declined to be the designated UPU operator for Denmark. International post parcels and several other services are still handed over to PostNord, and certain letter products (especially internationally) are still sent with PostNord. The only letter products that are directly UPU available in Denmark from year change 2026 are in fact still through PostNord.
The only products dao has properly taken over are untracked letters, domestically and internationally. dao's international letters are in fact sent privately to Austria to a private company where dao has an agreement. Therefore it is not possible to send "normal" UPU letter products with dao, where the letters are handed over to a UPU carrier (dao also does not receive directly from UPU operators). The Danish public does not have transparency at this point, but at some point a private company must be a customer for a UPU operator.
Additionally, dao parcels are not post and are not a universal service (currently, it is possible to send dao parcels only to certain EU countries).
Therefore I do not believe it makes sense to say that PostNord / Post Danmark was the national provider in past tense. PostNord is clearly still a national provider, although they do not have a monopoly. ~2026-26213-1 (talk) 07:40, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
