Type III

The article mentions "Type III polyketide synthases do not use ACP domains. (See below.)", but there doesn't see to be a "below" to which this refers. If they don't use ACP domains, how do they work? -- 140.142.20.229 (talk) 00:58, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the history, this "see below" was added in August 2007‎ by Lhynard, but no relevant changes were made to the article then or later, and I don't see any previously included section which has since been deleted. I don't know what the answer is - I will remove the nonexistant reference but leave the unsubstantiated comment for an expert. Loris (talk) 13:45, 18 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Further subdivisions

I'm not convinced that the following article text is justified:

Type I PKSs are further subdivided:
* Iterative PKSs reuse domains in a cyclic fashion.
* Modular PKSs contain a sequence of separate modules and do not repeat domains.

I'm of the understanding that Type II pathways can also behave iteratively, so why specifically talk about Type I there?
Furthermore, Type I clusters are often usefully divided into those with AT domains in cis and in trans ("AT-less" proteins) - (example, pdf).
I'm not confident enough of my ground here, but I think it's at least misleading.Loris (talk) 13:45, 18 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
