  • Comment: A gentle hint, having been surprised to have several similar recent hooks declined on WP:DYKINT grounds; three out of 12 'highs' at Wikipedia:Did you know/Statistics/Monthly summary statistics/2025/Non-imaged being OnlyFans creators says this meets the 'intriguing' part of DYKINT's 'intriguing or unusual'.

• The article was moved to mainspace on December 7, which is within seven days of creation. It is new enough and long enough, and I did not find any issues with close paraphrasing or sourcing. A full QPQ has been completed. I do not think the hook is interesting: the "Person has done OnlyFans/has worked with an OnlyFans creator" angle has already been used multiple times in some form this year, including the hook for Bop House. Saying that it is interesting because "similar hooks did well" is an WP:OSE case, and I do not believe that simply mentioning OnlyFans in a hook automatically makes it meet DYKINT. Plenty of TikTok creators have collaborated with OnlyFans personalities, and I cannot see why this particular case is any more unusual or interesting than the others. "Similar hooks did well" means "they are likely to do well again" (see also WP:Some stuff exists for a reason), but if you insist, then ALT1: ... that Piper Rockelle began posting on social media aged eight? or ALT2: ... that Piper Rockelle was making several hundred thousand dollars per month when she was fourteen?.--Launchballer 14:19, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

The first hook is not very interesting: plenty of people have used social media at that young of an age (social media age restrictions are notoriously easy to bypass). The second hook is not directly supported in the article (the article makes no mention of her making hundreds of thousands per month, only that she had earned millions). Normally, I'd say that I'm open to it, but considering what went on with the Squad, and the association with OnlyFans, I'm starting to question if it is right to even run this article on DYK at all. I amended the article so that it says "By January 2022, Rockelle was earning between $4.2 and $7.5 million per year"; WP:CALC would make ALT2a: ... that Piper Rockelle was making several hundred thousand dollars per month by 14? acceptable but I'm sure I could tweak it again if preferred. As for her Squad/OnlyFans activities precluding a main page run, there are consensuses in WT:DYK archives that even hardcore porn hooks are acceptable (The Cock Destroyers and The World's Biggest Gang Bang III ran following discussions), and it just isn't right to penalise Rockelle due to the behaviour of her mother.--Launchballer 03:23, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

It's not specifically the porn stuff that's giving me pause (I've supported porn-related hooks running in the past), it's more the timeline of it happening. It also doesn't help that the article wording is vague that the issues actually involved her mother and not she herself (remember that the subject's surname is also "Smith", so the article could easily be misinterpreted to mean that it was Piper who was involved, not her mother). • Comment. This is not a full review and won't become one, but I agree with Narutolivehinata5 that all of the proposed hooks are unsatisfactory - they're all "so what?" Lots of people are on OnlyFans, lots of people use social media at 8, and rich people exist. So I don't think ALT2A is that usable either ("by 14" also isn't very clear what it means - needs "age 14"). Unfortunately I think this topic is a hard fit for DYK... the most "interesting" things in the article are negative aspects about a minor, which is even less usable than boring facts. I might hesitantly suggest something like:
  • ALT2b : ... that Piper Rockelle was making several hundred thousand dollars per month on social media before being demonetized?
• But per above I'm not even sure this is great, since it gets into the negative aspects of living people on the front page side. But it's probably more enticingly interesting since it makes the reader wonder why she was demonetized. SnowFire (talk) 04:17, 25 December 2025 (UTC)

It doesn't matter that 'person is on OnlyFans' isn't particularly unusual. What DYKINT demands is that the hook is 'likely to be intriguing or unusual to an uninformed audience' (emphasis mine). Five out of five OnlyFans hooks making the top 40 on WP:DYKSTATS - potentially six if Kayla Simmons pulls its finger out - is not a coincidence. Some stuff exists for a reason. The only other hook I can see is that ALT3: ... that Piper Rockelle met her boyfriend after hiring him to play him for a role? - but again, DYKINT does not block ALT0.--Launchballer 05:22, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Except the issue here is no longer just any potential hooks but the actual article itself, especially given its content and the negative aspects described above. There are some topics that are just not a good fit for DYK regardless of hooks, and this is probably one of those cases.

Even if what you say about viewership correct, hook formats can fall out of consensus. There is a reason why Jilly Cooper hooks no longer run with her name being mentioned, I can't see why "Did you know that X is on OnlyFans" hooks should be treated differently other than you like that specific angle. In any case, there are now two editors opposing the OnlyFans subject, so there is no consensus to run an angle about that. It's probably time to let this one go unfortunately. My point is that DYKSTATS likes the angle, not just me, and Cooper hooks are nowhere near as popular there (and the complaints against them were that there were too many - we've run five of these over nearly three years). I still don't see why we should be penalising Rockelle over the actions of her mother and/or her boyfriend.--Launchballer 05:48, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

• (de-indent) I agree on that last point, which is exactly why "negative aspect relevant to a person" hooks are tricky. But I don't see what's so unreasonable about demanding a DYK fact in keeping with the rules on DYK facts. Suppose, for the sake of argument, that there are a ton of some specific sport fanatics reading DYK, and hooks about the sport do well. That still doesn't mean that the nominator should suggest hooks like "Did you know XYZ plays Long Off in cricket" or "Did you know ABC is an offensive lineman in American football". Maybe those hooks will do okay out of general interest off sheer views, but they still aren't interesting. You can't just say "Did you know {person} is on OnlyFans" or "{person} is rich". More generally, there are special considerations with featuring minors. It's difficult. Sometimes it's not workable and it's not anyone's fault, it's just how things go. It's great you're writing these articles but not every sourced, policy-compliant article is an easy fit for DYK. SnowFire (talk) 00:20, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

OnlyFans hooks follow "the rules on DYK facts" to the letter, which is "intriguing to a broad audience". It doesn't matter that it isn't interesting. The point of hooks is to get people to click through and mentioning the firm causes people to do that. Also, Rockelle is no longer a minor.--Launchballer 02:34, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

With respect, Wikipedia:Did you know/Reviewer instructions criteria 7 requires hooks be interesting, and criteria 10 is a reminder that appearing on the front page involves subjective criteria for "is this a good idea". You've chosen a tough topic for DYK, in the same way that true crime articles can be tricky as well. Not all of them fit, and that's not the article creator's fault or the reviewer's fault. I've created articles I didn't even bother to nom for DYK because they weren't very main-page friendly. It happens. SnowFire (talk) 15:27, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

Neither is it Rockelle's fault. We would not scotch an Elvis hook because of something Colonel Tom Parker did or a Tina Turner hook because of something Ike Turner did. The reviewer instructions defer to the Guidelines and are in this case sufficiently misleading that I intend on raising it on WT:DYK.--Launchballer 16:56, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

I do not understand why the apparent insistence on having this article in particular run when two separate editors have objected on reasonable grounds. There are plenty of other articles you can bring to DYK, letting this one go is no big loss. I also do not understand the apparent insistence on the OnlyFans angle just because similar hooks did well in the past. Consensus can change, and what may seem like good ideas in the past may not seem so today. A hook that went, for example, "Did you know that, at the age of 10, John Smith personally witnessed his father assassinating the mayor of Townsville?" would undoubtedly do well: that does not mean running that hook is a good idea, especially if the article about Smith is primarily about his abusive childhood. Because I don't believe either ground is reasonable. I have refuted both arguments. (My insistence that OnlyFans hooks are DYKINT compliant is partly down to the fact I have ideas for other hooks that mention the firm, which I delayed after seeing a severely deficient version of this published. I have in principle no objection to any of my other hooks on this page.) That said, if this article was filled out in the future with post-Squad stuff, would you have any objection to me bringing it back via GA?--Launchballer 07:42, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
