How frustrating! Yes, it makes a big difference on my widescreen display, and continues as I shrink the window (laterally) until it is more or less square, then it becomes too much and drops the tables where they were (for me) before the edits. At that point the first table (Line#1 = 1929; Paco Bienzobas) only commences below the image of Kylian Mbappe, with a whole ton of white space above it. It has transformed the article for me, but that is somewhat irrelevant if this hasn't helped you in any way.

Jumping images

I was hoping to get thoughts from others about images that "jump" around. The images of Zarra, Quini and Mbappé are meant to be next to the table, but when you zoom in (which I do, due to an eye issue), the images "jump" above the table. The resulting layout is quite a mess: three images stacked on top of each other on the right, with a vast amount of empty white space on the left. I don't view Wikipedia on mobile, but I'm under the impression that the same issue might occur with this page on mobile devices.

My solution was to remove the images, but another editor reverted. Please let me know your thoughts about whether and how we should move or remove the images in question.

@OrdinaryOtter I suspect (but I haven't actually checked), that every single article on Wikipedia that has images adjacent to a table will suffer the same, so we could be talking tens or hundreds of thousands of cases.

To a less obvious extent, I'm sure it happens to all 70 million Wikipedia articles as you shrink the screen size, or increase the magnification, because the image thumbnail stays the same (or expands), whilst the adjacent text is squeezed into a smaller and smaller space...

Except long before that happens, the software interrupts this process by re-positioning the image in some way. I cannot think of a better solution; it is just something we all live with.

FYI I can make Robbie Savage "jump", either by reducing the screen width to here ||
i.e the length of the previous sentence above (at 100%), or by using +175% magnification on a square screen, or +300% on my widescreen PC monitor. But ultimately it all depends on the amount of text or the width of table next to the image. Or indeed personal preferences regarding Wiki text size.
