I'd like to know whether the character Jean-Luc Picard was named after any of these explorers; I assume he was. Not that I would expect him to be included in this article, but maybe people would be looking that up? --Justfred 19:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Jules Piccard should be listed with the Swiss family - he was the father of Auguste Piccard and Jean Piccard and the father-in-law of Jeannette Piccard. I believe that Eulalie and Sophie were also related, but do not know exactly how. -- Lionheartpike (talk) 18:29, 29 September 2020 (UTC) Also a member of that family: the engineer-industrialist Antoine Paul Piccard [1] b. 1844, d. 1929, was the brother of Jules Piccard. See article Pic-Pic for automotive products of the Piccard-Pictet Company; the company was also responsible for hydroelectric turbines and generators installed at Niagra Falls, and for commercial table salt so pure it was white, unlike prior commercial table salt. Sorry, I have no print documentation for the table-salt story, and only one primary, unpublished document about the Niagra Falls hydroelectric installation. Perhaps someone can find out more.
