Track length "disput"

There is no real dispute regarding the length of the oval track. NASCAR utilizes the shortcut through the dogleg, whereas IndyCar does not take this shortcut into account.

Due to the reprofiling of the dogleg in 2011, the track became slightly longer. This is clearly evident from the maps. Consequently, 1.022 miles is significantly more accurate. After all, if one assumes that NASCAR's stated figure of 1 mile is correct, then—logically speaking—the track must have been shorter than 1 mile prior to 2011.
