The article contains uncited statements, including entire paragraphs. The "Controversies" section has several problems: Its inclusion in the article may go against WP:POV, as the article is stating that these are controversies in wikivoice. The first part is mostly quotes, creating copyright concerns, the award controversy doesn't seem to be about him. I think this can either be removed or the information redistributed throughout the article. I think the "Comparisons with Gandhi" section is unnecessary in the article: why is Periyar being compared to this particular historical figure? This section also seems to be trying to elevate Preiyar's standing by comparing him to a favourable figure, which I do not think is the role of Wikipedia. The article should read E. V. Ramasamy as Periyar is a title given by his followers. By following a neutral POV, one must use the legal name and not a follower given title. "Periyar" means the Elder One, which is merely a title and not a name. TechyLox (talk) 19:13, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please change the opening sentence and the infobox name to remove the caste suffix "Naicker". The subject famously renounced caste titles as part of the Self-Respect Movement, and modern academic and historical consensus universally refers to him as E. V. Ramasamy or Periyar. Keeping the caste suffix contradicts both his life's work and standard biographical practice for this subject.
