Just inside?

[edit]

This article states a peristyle is just columns surrounding a courtyard. I though it ALSO could be used to describe columns all the way around a building eg: the Parthenon. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dustin Pearson (talkcontribs) 21:59, 3 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

peripteros: the peri component does signify "around". --Wetman 04:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

In Greek Architecture section

[edit]

Currently reads as:

A peristyle was mostly used as a courtyard in Ancient Greece, but in the homes of people who were in the upper class or if they owned slaves usually, it was also used as gardens surrounding. The peristyle use was a common area, a place in the house were both men and women could meet. Sometimes, it also included an altar for sacrifices. Large parties, ones that were too large for the Estates Symposium room, were mainly in the peristyle.

A historian working on a video game doesn't mean the game is accurate or that it is the best citation. The section also needs editing for readability. Becsh (talk) 13:35, 28 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Removing section. It will be preserved here in case anyone can find appropriate sources.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Becsh (talkcontribs) 10:56, 2 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
