Rubbish full of errors

[edit]

The Wikipedia page for Patrick Woodcock is full of errors and an insult to the writer - bravo. Farhang Bennett (talk) 20:04, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can you please point out the specific errors here? Thanks, MediaKyle (talk) 20:09, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I do not have time to go through and edit your poorly written page about me. Try not to be so lazy when you do your next page. Enough of this BS. Farhang Bennet (talk) 20:37, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

See disclosure on User_talk:MediaKyle#Patrick_Woodcock. User Farhang Bennet has self-disclosed that they are the article subject, Patrick Woodcock Geoff | Who, me? 20:10, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

You can add a connected contributor tag here on the talk page if you'd like, but there is no need to tag the article, as their edits were reverted. The entire contents of the article as it stands was written by me. Thanks, MediaKyle (talk) 20:12, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
No problem. We'll just let this section here serve. Cheers, mate! Geoff | Who, me? 20:16, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, as the subject would I not want the article to be correct and fact checked - just copying and pasting articles is a sad way to write. And now you want me to fact check a page I did not ask for and waste my time because you are all too lazy to do it correctly. Farhang Bennet (talk) 20:35, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Good work Geoff - great quality control my friend. Farhang Bennet (talk) 21:07, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Farhang Bennett: The reality of Wikipedia is that no one, not even an article subject, owns and solely controls an article: WP:OWN. You are free to propose specific changes to the article here on its Talk page, but not to edit its content directly to suit yourself. Concentrate on seeking help to improve the content of the article by proposing specific changes, not on sarcastically attacking the character of the other volunteers around here. Geoff | Who, me? 21:21, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
thank you Geoff...you guys are amazing. I had no idea my father was dead...I guess I can mourn him now. Keep up the high quality work. ~2026-37804 (talk) 21:36, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Farhang Bennet, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, which means it summarizes already available information. All of the information in this article has been fact checked and you can click on the citations to see what source was used to fact check them. If one of those sources is incorrect, then I suggest writing to them. Also remember that we don't even know for sure whether you're actually Patrick Woodcock, or if you're someone claiming to be him and acting surly to make him look bad; we just have to take your word for it. It's hard to tell what solution you're looking for here, because so far all you've told us is that you don't want "was" to describe your father's career, which has already been fixed per your request. How about you actually fact check pages - the writer of the page did not get my publications correct -

Bio - additions and clarification

[edit]

Because this now comes up in author searches online I need to have a few words changed and some content added - if possible - all can be fact checked - the wfns bio is well written

A Globe article, in which I later received an apology over although it was positive said I lived briefly in countries which is not true. I move, live and work without grants for years. That is why I am now referred to in reviews and interviews as a migrant writer - not travelling poet. I think my bio would serve the reader far better if it mentioned some of the unique successes achieved in this unique role - no other Canadian poet has done what I have done - here is what is missing that I think makes the Bio more whole:

His seventh book Always Die Before Your Mother was shortlisted for Canada’s ReLit award in 2010 and reached the number one spot on the Globe and Mail’s bestseller list. His 8th book Echo Gods and Silent Mountains was extremely well reviewed all over the world and was called “…the most beautiful, deep and touching collection of poetry written on Kurds by a non-Kurd.” by the Kurdish media network, Rudaw. He has read at International poetry festival’s in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, the Kurdish North of Iraq, Azerbaijan, England, The Republic of Georgia, Tanzania, Kenya and Canada’s Winnipeg International Writers Festival. While living in Colombia he read at the Ibague Poetry Festival, The XVIII Medellin International Poetry Festival and was the first poet from outside of Latin America to ever read at the Bogota Poetry Festival. Are no changes being made? ~2026-63889-3 (talk) 16:27, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I suggest that you first read WP:COIREQ and then use the {{Edit COI}} template to formulate your edit requests. That will make it easier for volunteers to consider actioning them. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 16:32, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ya - I have no time for this - just because you 'say' volunteer it does not make it ok for poor, incompetent work. Why make a page if you are going to do it so poorly - how have you helped the author - enough of Wikipedia. I was asked by the author of the page to show the errors - I work too long and hard to wasted any more minutes on this rubbish. Great Work! ~2026-63889-3 (talk) 16:37, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Completely up to you! We are all volunteers here. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 17:16, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
you can't hide behind being a volunteer...why create a page that insults and f-s the author? ~2026-37804 (talk) 18:08, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I can see that you're annoyed. I've actually made no edits to the article, so it's pointless your gripping at me. If you want the article changed, the method that is most likely to be fruitful is a well-formed edit request. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 18:17, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
