Image is wrong
[edit]I have no idea who uploaded that image, but they obviously have no clue what paraphyses are. The image does not depict an "aerial paraphysis" as wrongly claimed (no such thing exists), but an ascospore with septa. The spore likely belongs to genus Geoglossum. This image should be removed by an editor.

Paraphyses in relation to ferns?
[edit]This article seems to be missing a discussion of paraphyses on ferns, where they are mixed with the sporangia, for protection. Naralis 22:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
