There needs to be an item on paleocoordinates

Several articles from Wikipedia (I think mostly on recent fossils, example: 20MY old Kolpomonos) use the term and give the relevant paleo- as well as current coordinates, but there is no explanation anywhere on Wikipedia on what they are.

I hadn't heard of them, and I can guess how they work, but I'd like more info --- who came up with them, what model do they rely on (and what will get corrected should that model be revised), possible other uses, etc. Possibly just a line in the last section of this article, then we can link all uses of the word to this article. 2001:4CA0:0:F233:F0A9:76D0:A8FF:6A3C (talk) 07:28, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
