Overall: Article was moved to mainspace on September 15 and nominated the next day. It is neutrally written, but there a number of uncited statements. Per WP:DYKCITE: "All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited to a reliable source no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose)."@KFP: could you please ping me when you have added those missing citations? Thank you — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello03:17, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Chao Garden:! I have updated the sources (mostly the same 2 main sources + one new one for a couple of statements). For the time being I took out the sentence "This bottom water inhibits decomposition, so any organic matter or objects such as boats or trees that have sunk to the bottom may have been preserved for millennia." as while it's often repeated in news and articles on the lake, I didn't yet find a satisfactory source. I might add it back when I come up with something - it is a common feature of anoxic waters in general so not specific to this particular lake. @KFP: thank you for making those changes! WP:DYKHFC says "The facts of the hook in the article should be cited no later than the end of the sentence in which they appear." You might want to add a citation directly at the end of those sentences. For both hooks, it looks like the Johansson applies for each? Would you be able to share a direct quote to help me verify? (I'm not sure what Finish phrase to search for in the article) — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello17:50, 21 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@KFP: friendly ping — could you help me verify the Johansson source, assuming that's the one that applies to this hook? Just a quote would be helpful. I can't verify it myself, because I don't speak Finnish & don't know what phrase / word to search for in the source. — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello22:03, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Chao Garden: Hi! Sorry, been a bit busy in the past week. In the Raito source, the stuff relevant to the main hook candidate is under the subheading "jättimäinen hiidenkirnu" which means "gigantic giant's kettle". The word "hiidenkirnumainen" (meaning "giant's-kettle-like") is also used in that section of the article. That same word is also used in the Luontoon.fi article. I'll get back to you on the alt hook by the weekend at the latest. KFP (contact - edits) 05:55, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
