The element ‘Ossen’ in Ossendrecht.
[edit]Though 'ossen' in Dutch is equivalent to 'oxes' in English, it is not the erymological root of 'Ossen' in Ossendrecht. In this case 'ossen' refers to 'ussen' which are sand drifts of the dillivium hills at the south-western border of Noord-Brabant. Their existence can still been seen in the neighbour village of Huybergen, where the yellow slopes still witness the once eolic elevations in de estuarium of meandering rivers flowing from France, through Flanders into the sea arms as now labelled the Ooster en Wester Schelde. 2A02:A420:27D:C76D:6D3D:FD56:AAA8:E9FD (talk) 09:58, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
