[edit]

I started this article because it deserved its own article as it is similar to other derivative projects of OpenStreetMap such as OpenSeaMap and OpenHistoricalMap. Just a quick note for those reading. Urban Versis 32KB(talk / contribs) 18:35, 8 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Urban Versis 32: Thanks for starting this draft. Some assorted feedback based on a cursory reading:
  • Consider clarifying the relationship between ORM and OSM. I think ORM uses the main OSM database for all its rail data, unlike OHM and Railway History Map. So it's essentially a website built around a custom renderer, an experimental querying API, and a subcommunity that maintains a subset of OSM's tagging scheme. Can you find sources talking about how the OSM community perceives ORM or vice versa?
  • Aim for fewer lists and more prose. It's OK if everything currently under "Contents", for example, gets collapsed into a single sentence.
  • All the existing citations are to first-party sources, which aren't sufficient for establishing notability. Luckily, Google Scholar turns up no shortage of significant scholarly attention. Try to work these sources into the article.
  • Are there any similar projects inside or outside of the OSM ecosystem?
