First volume cover as profile picture and plot

[edit]

Hi. I still insist on the topic of adding the first volume cover as profile picture, for many reasons, one of them is to avoid spoilers for newcomers. And a plot, since a detailed summary like the one that it's on the Spanish article could work. Please reply! Thanks! ~2026-79841-3 (talk) 13:35, 5 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Spoilers are not a reason to take any action on Wikipedia, nor is it mandatory to include the cover of the first volume in manga articles. Xexerss (talk) 19:48, 5 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. David A (talk) 07:31, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
I also support Xexerss's observations on this. sjones23 (talk - contributions) 08:28, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
You’ve asked this request multiple times under multiple accounts and IP addresses. No matter how many times you ask, the answer will always be no. 1989 (talk) 17:50, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Why did my short edit get deleted?

[edit]

I recently made an edit to the one piece wiki page in The One Piece section giving further details on what it was, and my edit has been removed. Radica1Rex (talk) 15:27, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please reply, I forgot to add that. Radica1Rex (talk) 17:59, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
It was likely due to that you did not provide any reference for the information. David A (talk) 19:26, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I assume you're referring to this edit, which was reverted because you did not provide a citation. The tone could also be a bit more encyclopedic. Link20XX (talk) 22:13, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok, thanks, I'll cite the sources next time. Radica1Rex (talk) 14:36, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Nihongo Template

[edit]

Should I use a Nihongo template in the name One Piece (Japanese: ワンピース, Hepburn: Wan Pīsu) similar to other articles regarding about manga series such as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime?

I believe that most people actually uses the original Japanese name. SammySong (talk) 15:51, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga/Archive 74#Lead sections for Latin titles. Xexerss (talk) 16:05, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is true that the title for the manga is shown as "ONE PIECE" in capital letters of the Latin alphabet, but it also includes the Japanese writing on top as "ワンピース", so I don't see a problem with using the Nihongo template at the beginning of the article, since the Japanese writing itself is also part of the title shown in the covers of the chapters and volumes of the manga. BrookTheHumming (talk) 16:59, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
The other series mentioned in the discussion also include katakana, like Banana Fish, D.Gray-man and Angel Beats, but that's there to make it easier for Japanese readers; it's of no use to the average reader of the English Wikipedia. Even when the series title is mentioned in Japanese media, it is usually written in Latin script, not in katakana. Xexerss (talk) 17:25, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
People researching about the subject, may prefer to see the Japanese name in transliteration and original language, so instead of using the Nihongo template why not put the name on the InfoBox as there is a JA section. What do you think of this idea instead? SammySong (talk) 23:10, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
But the original Japanese title is "One Piece" (in all caps); the Katakana script is just a pronunciation guide for Japanese readers and not the actual title. Putting it there may give readers the wrong impression. Link20XX (talk) 00:20, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@SammySong: If you'd like, you can start another discussion on this topic at WT:ANIME. Personally, I think that the number of people who are interested in knowing how the title of series is written and pronounced in Japanese, or who read the article hoping to find that information, is likely a tiny fraction of the site's average readership. Xexerss (talk) 00:22, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
while that is a good idea some people may feel the Japanese of any alphabet is a nice QOL feature due to the small peek into the writing styles in Japan. or it could just be a me thing, idk AteDFood (talk) 18:04, 14 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
And maybe a "Nihongo foot" template to shown it as a note? Just as an option. BrookTheHumming (talk) 16:05, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I reiterate that this should be discussed at WT:ANIME. I still think that pointing out the Japanese pronunciation and spelling of a title that is usually written in Latin, even in the Japanese media, is of interest only to a small audience. Xexerss (talk) 17:24, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@MannysMyName There is still no consensus on the inclusion of katakana, which, as I keep saying, requires a broader discussion. Also see WP:OTHERCONTENT. Xexerss (talk) 00:44, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Had no idea this was under discussion, my apologies MannysMyName (talk) 00:55, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Should "Blox Fruits" Be Mentioned?

[edit]

Would Blox Fruits, the highly popular RPG style experience on Roblox, be worth mentioning in the "Video Games" section? Although it isn't an officially licensed One Piece game, it is heavily inspired by the series and has amassed a conspicuously large player base. There are also independent sources discussing its relationship with One Piece. I didn't want to add it myself because I was unsure if it met the sourcing requirements for inclusion, so I wanted to ask here first.

Also, if it does meet the requirements, I am horrible at writing articles, just a fact. So, I'm asking now if someone would write it for me. DislikeAI (talk) 02:19, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

If, to begin with, it isn't official, and there's probably no coverage of it from reliable sources, there's no reason to mention it in the article. Xexerss (talk) 12:39, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's reasonable, thanks. DislikeAI (talk) 14:37, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
