If someone could please explain what this means, I would appreciate that.

But if my understanding of US politics is correct, then you could say that about anyone who voted in favour "It would have been tied, but x person voted in favour of it."

The source is in the legislative history section of the information box on the upper right side of the article.

Since 1960, there are 100 members in the U.S. Senate (two from each state). That does not include the Vice President, who is only allowed to vote when there is a tie. This bill was tied 50-50 until he voted for it. NME Frigate (talk) 19:16, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
