Neutrality tag
[edit]I see that this article as tagged as under dispute, but I'm not seeing anything here on the talkpage. What exactly is the nature of the dispute? If no one answers, I'll go ahead and remove the tag. --Elonka 04:36, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Dates
[edit]There are conflicting sources on dates. Mann 2007 has very different ones from those put forth here. Not sure how to resolve the issue, so I tagged the article as disputed/better sources needed. Catjacket (talk) 22:22, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

- Sure:
- Ashipa: crowned sometime before 1682
- Ado: no dates
- Gabaro: ? - c. 1760
- Akinsemoyin: c. 1760-1775
- Eletu Kekere: c. 1775-1780
- Ologun Kutere: c. 1780-1801/3
- Adele: c. 1811 (sic. I think it's a typo and she meant 1801) to 1821, 1835-37
- Osinlokun: 1821-29
- Idewu Ojulari: 1829-1835
- Oluwole: 1837-41
- After that they agree. I'm inclined to believe Mann over the sources already in the article - some of them are just blogs. Kotun's book on the Eko dynasty is more serious, and it presumably derives from authentic oral traditions, but there are several issues. It's not accessible in it's entirety, Kotun is not a historian and (as far as I can see) doesn't cite his sources, and oral traditions are notoriously tricky for dating. Mann seems to correlate her dates w/ European documents, although the dating process is still somewhat opaque. The current article also has some improbably long reigns, including Adele ruling for 5 years, then spending 52 years in exile, then coming back, which seems extremely unlikely to me.
