Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 3 external links on OMERS. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Shouldn't the investments be mentioned? Some of them are relevant enough to have their own article. The promotional adjectives should be eliminated. --Per W (talk) 07:35, 1 March 2020 (UTC) @Mean as custard: --Per W (talk) 16:20, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

COI edit request from RachelW at OMERS

[edit]

Hello, I have a conflict of interest as I work with OMERS, and I'm requesting an edit for accuracy and neutrality in accordance with Wikipedia's COI guidelines.

Proposed edit: In the knowledge panel, remove "Michael Rolland (CEO, Sponsors Corporation)"

and replace with:

"Laurie Hutchinson (CEO, Sponsors Corporation)"

Rationale:

The proposed change is done for accuracy, as Michael Rolland retired from this position and Laurie Hutchinson was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of OMERS Sponsors Corporation, effective April 18, 2022.

Go ahead: I have reviewed these proposed changes and suggest that you go ahead and make the proposed changes to the page. Do not include the link to Hutchinson's bio as an external link, but do please include it as a reference (you want to take a look at Help:Referencing for beginners). Hello, I have a conflict of interest as I work with OMERS, and I'm requesting three edits for accuracy and neutrality in accordance with Wikipedia's COI guidelines.

  1. Proposed edit: Requesting we remove "In 2010, this fund assumed the pensions of firefighters, police officers, emergency physicians, employees of the Children's Aid Society, school employees other than teachers, public transport employees and Ontario Hydro employees." and replace with "OMERS members include union and non-union employees of municipalities, school boards, local boards, transit systems, electrical utilities, emergency services and children’s aid societies across Ontario." Rationale: Emergency physicians and Ontario Hydro are not participating employers in the OMERS plan. The proposed change is done for accuracy and to keep the page as up-to-date as possible for readers. 2. Proposed edit: In the knowledge panel, can we please remove “Frank Ramagnano (Board chair, Sponsors Corporation)” and replace with “Max Cananzi (Board chair, Sponsors Corporation)”. Rationale: The proposed change is done for accuracy and to keep the page as up-to-date as possible for readers. 3. Proposed edit: In the knowledge panel, can we please remove “Parent – OMERS Administration Corporation Board of Directors”. No replacement. Rationale: OMERS does not have a parent company. It is governed by two corporations (OMERS Sponsors Corporation and OMERS Administration Corporation). Not done for now: Could you please format your citations using the "cite" button? See also WP:ILC :). Feel free to ping/rerequest when done. GoldRomean (talk) 15:39, 7 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
No problem! Just edited now. RachelW at OMERS (talk) 14:42, 12 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@GoldRomean Can you please process this update now that the citation has been fixed? RachelW at OMERS (talk) 16:56, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, but not quite—if done right, the citations should show up as smaller numbers; see the live article for examples. I've reopened your request, however, so this request is now showing up in the queue :). GoldRomean (talk) 17:52, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can take a look at this over the weekend, I have no conflict with the COI guidelines. Page me if I seem to have forgotten over a week @RachelW at OMERS Kwkintegrator (talk) 18:17, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Kwkintegrator Thank you! Any chance you could approve these updates this week? RachelW at OMERS (talk) 19:50, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Made various edits. The infobox elements seemed to be inaccurate (Total Assets vs. Net assets), so selected the appropriate figures from the annual report as it's a more information-ruch source. (Yes it's a primary source, not secondary, but it's audited, and that's good enough for the claims that are being made in my mind). The smoothed funded ratio didn't quite fit and it was moved elsewhere in the document.
I have shortened the lede section, created a new financial standing section.
Have also taken the liberty of removing the verifiability tag at the top of the page, it has been there for 14 years and seems unneeded now. Have also detailed the size of the fund's shortfall (along with the 99% smoothed funded context).
If you have any disagreement with any of the direction taken, I'm happy to take a second look at anything you flag. Kwkintegrator (talk) 04:41, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Kwkintegrator Thank you for taking a look at this! Flagging three inaccuracies and one requested update:
Inaccuracy 1: Net Income is $8.2B (As at December 31, 2025). This is cited on page 24 of the 2025 Annual Report (the source you linked).
Inaccuracy 2: In the Financial Position section, "smoothed funding ratio" should be "smoothed funded ratio". Edit is for consistency and accuracy.
Inaccuracy 3: The final line in the Financial Position section, please edit "more than 600,000 [members]" to "more than 650,000..." This is for consistency and accuracy.
Requested update: Return "Net Assets" to Knowledge Panel and remove "Total Assets". OMERS reporting focuses on Net Assets, so for consistency amongst members and stakeholders and consistency with the content in the Financial Position section, can we please keep the metric as "Net Assets: C$145.2 billion (as at December 31, 2025)?" RachelW at OMERS (talk) 15:01, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
These all make sense. Implemented all of them. Kwkintegrator (talk) 19:11, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

COI edit request from RachelW at OMERS

Hello, I have a conflict of interest as I work with OMERS, and I'm requesting one edit for accuracy and neutrality in accordance with Wikipedia's COI guidelines.

  1. Proposed edit: Requesting we update the 'Key People' section of the knowledge panel to remove Laurie Hutchinson (CEO Sponsors Corporation). Updated Key people section would then read: "Blake Hutcheson (CEO) George Cooke (Board chair, Administration Corporation) Max Cananzi (Board chair, Sponsors Corporation)" Rationale: The proposed change is done for accuracy and to keep the page as up-to-date as possible for readers. Laurie Hutchinson is no longer with the OMERS Sponsors Corporation following the wind up of the Sponsors Council.
