Confusion

Regarding this edit - it is incorrect. The title I added to the "See also" section does not exist anywhere in this article.

After more searching with the find function, I believe this other editor is confusing the title that I added with Lucan's "True Story, " which is linked in the sub-section entitled "Early novels." Also, this link to Lucan's novel or novella is wrong. The actual title of Lucan's book is "A True Story", not "True Story," please see that article page. Additionally, someone created a piped link to "True Story", which again, is inaccurate. Hence, this needs to be fixed.

So, in a nutshell, the title that I added was "The True Story of the Novel, which is a scholarly nonfiction book that critiques the history of the novel as it stood in 1996 and probably as that history still stands today. OK, I see the link to the Internet Archive, no problem. And since this title is already in the article there is no need for it in the "See also" section. I'm not going to argue or edit war. But, I am not sure what you mean about deleting an article? Or is it about deleting the wiki link to that article? In any case, I don't want to create animosity, which is why I did a strike-thru above. It is good that you and other editors care about articles on Wikipedia. Importance of vulgar language in the birth of European novel

This entry completely misses out the importance of the switch from Latin to vulgar writing in the European novel. Hence the French term Roman. Jamesks (talk) 17:59, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Tufayl reference is incorrect

This sentence: "An early example from Europe was Hayy ibn Yaqdhan by the Sufi writer Ibn Tufayl in Muslim Spain" stretches the meaning of "novel" much too far; it's a narrative story, not a novel. Quinn d (talk) 20:56, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
