The result of the move request was: Moved to "X Line (Singapore)". There is a consensus to move to "X Line" format. As for there dab, there are various options, "Singapore", "Singapore MRT", "MRT". There is no clear consensus. Per WP:BARTENDER, "Singapore" will be used as the disambiguator where required. – robertsky (talk) 14:30, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
– Originally, these pages had the capitalisation before Dickylon moved all of them without proper consensus from the community. Yes, there is a similar precedent of the 2018 discussion to move X MRT Station -> X MRT station, but in those cases, local sources do not capitalise them (especially in this clear example). However, plenty of local sources have capitalise the Line , , , , , . As such, I'm gathering consensus here whether to move these pages back with the proper capitalisations. Also, as per that move consensus of the stations, while these sources do not have "MRT" when talking about the lines, the "MRT" provides conciseness and disambiguation on Wikipedia.
Note: The North–South and East–West MRT lines have the en-dash because official sources have them, and also because they run from north to south and east to west respectively. But North East line does not because the line serves the northeast region, not that it goes from north to east. ZKang123 (talk·contribs) 00:56, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Support as per LTA's website, "Line" is part of the name. Although, might I suggest that since the official line name is "Circle Line", won't "Circle Line (MRT)" be a better name for the articles? George13lol2 (talk) 01:44, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. I agree that natural disambiguation is preferable, but mixing it with a capitalized line implies that "Downtown MRT Line" (for example) is a proper name, and the linked sources don't support that. I think either Downtown Line (MRT) or Downtown MRT line are good options, but I can't support the current proposal. Mackensen(talk)11:09, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose proposed, support "[...] Line (MRT)". Happy to be proven wrong, but as above, a quick search shows "North East MRT Line" isn't as routinely used in sources capitalised so not as a preferable WP:NATURALDAB (as it isn't as used). Likely because it isn't a proper name but combining "North East" and "MRT line", the proper name is "North East Line", so better use the actual capitalised name or keep the current natural more descriptive name. For example this source uses the capitalised proper name and the current decapitalised name here, but not the proposed. I am assuming the same applies for the other pages. Strong oppose, support "Foo Line" or "Foo Line (Mass Rapid Transit)" where a disambiguator is needed. MRT is an acronym which should be a redirect to the expanded name. These would be:
Honestly if consensus is moving towards keeping XX Line I'm fine with it. But I disagree with the descriptors in brackets because MRT is not a unique term to Singapore and is also used for the KL MRT (e.g. MRT Circle Line) and Buangkok. We can perhaps go with (Singapore) or (Singapore MRT) as the descriptor... Tho on the main Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore) there have been disagreements about using Singapore MRT as a term.--ZKang123 (talk·contribs) 04:03, 31 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Comment: I agree with Mackensen; capitalized "X MRT Line" implies that that is the proper name, when "X Line" appears to be the proper name (and common name) instead. I would support "X Line" being chosen as the format. Obviously, this will require a disambiguator for a few of the articles; of the options put forward, I think that "(Singapore MRT)" would be preferable to "(MRT)" or "(Mass Rapid Transit)", because both MRT and Mass Rapid Transit are themselves ambiguous terms. However, I would suggest that simply using "(Singapore)" would be better still. Parenthetical disambiguation by country is a straightforward and common method. I would just go with "(Singapore)" because "(Singapore MRT)" isn't really a proper descriptor nor is it really in any way an official name of the network (unlike London Underground or New York City Subway).--ZKang123 (talk·contribs) 12:49, 12 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
