Shouting the wartime slogan? (nitpicky)
[edit]As far as I can interpret the reference given for "displayed red flags with portraits of Stalin and shouted "For the Motherland! For Stalin!" (here), they were not shouting the slogan, their flags were defaced (if that's the word indeed) with it, alongside the Stalin's portrait - viz.: "[b]ikers waving red flags with portrait of Stalin and the wartime slogan 'For the Motherland! Katyn vs Khatyn
[edit]The gang did not visit Katyn near Smolensk, the site of the NKVD massacre of some 20,000 Polish officers and intelligentsia, but Khatyn, a small village in Belarus that was the site of a German massacre. The confusingly similar name was the reason Khatyn was promoted as a memorial site by Stalinist propaganda, to district from its own war crimes in Katyn, which it had initially blamed on the Nazis. While the linked Aljazeera site gets it wrong and mentions Katyn in Russia, a contemporary BBC article initially made the same mistake but was later corrected. The Wikipedia article should be updated to reflect the correction provided by the BBC. Joewein (talk) 11:03, 15 September 2026 (UTC)
