Newsom → Newsom (surname) – Very clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for Gavin Newsom. In pageviews, when switched to logarithmic scale, you can see that the spikes in both "Newsom" and "Gavin Newsom" rise at the same places. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 02:32, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:MONONYM, and moreover no evidence was presented to support that his WP:COMMONNAME is Newsom -- only correlation that also shows corresponding spikes for Jennifer Siebel Newsom. Instead what I think is really being sought is a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT, similar to Pelosi. However that is a very high bar, and when we look at the pageviews for other Newsom's, beyond the Govenor and his wife, we also see Joanna Newsom with even more page views than Jennifer. When we pull the pageviews for a 5 month period last year (eg pushing back a bit to avoid recitintism spikes of the policitical news) we see compelling evidence that Gavin is not overwhelming. When looking at that sample period we see about a 2:1 spead between the song-writer and the govenor, or at 3:1 due to recentism. But when we look at Pelosi, we see that spead being closer to 6:1, which is a huge difference between Nancy Pelosi & Paul Pelosi. Which I proffer is why Pelosi can be a PREDIRECT, but Newsom should not be. TiggerJay (talk) 04:55, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
