Amendment required

[edit]

The article states: "Nakhchivan is homogeneously Azerbaijani today besides a small population of Russians." The reference provided - Britannica - states a small population of Armenians and Russians. Would a registered editor amend, please. 182.239.152.166 (talk) 01:15, 30 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

The article says "Though a mixed ArmenianAzerbaijani region as late as a century ago, Nakhchivan is homogeneously Azerbaijani today besides a small population of Russians." I think it's necessary to add why this is (because of the forced population exchange between Azerbaijan and Armenia). This is stated later in the article in the demographics section, but such an important part of the history of region should be stated a lot earlier. Flag + coa

@JaxsonR: please stop. Stop bringing DAANES. I don't even know their situation with the Syrian flag. Who cares about an unrecognized quasi region. Its constitution states: Article 10. The symbols of Nakhchivan Autonomous State: The state symbols of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are the state flag, emblem of the Azerbaijan Republic and the national anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic. They're doing it by own choice, not compulsory reasons. Beshogur (talk) 23:18, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Its the exact same reason's why the Syria flag is not listed on that page, obviously a region of Azerbaijan would use that flag. JaxsonR (talk) 23:21, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Nope. You came with Arizona etc. Is DAANES your only example? Quasi region that changes flags like cameleon. There is no rule here that you should remove from the infobox because an autonomous region using the country's flag. As I told, it's separately mentioned in their constitution. You would be right if they didn't. Beshogur (talk) 23:22, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I looked at other examples. Xinjiang, no constitution, operates under CCP law, thus no flag. Northern Ireland no consitution, no flag law, thus no flag. Also checked Akrotiri and Dhekelia, Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, both having no constitution, no flag law, using de facto the Union Jack. So what's the issue here?
