Magnesium can lead to severe diarrhea.
[edit]You may be correct that on its own, the severe diarrhea that can be caused by the magnesium in many antacids like Mylanta, may not be significant. However, it can leave a person dehydrated if left unchecked. This happened to me while I was extremely ill while I was trying to calm epigastric pain per the MD's instructions and make it through the night until the she was available again. I took it according to the bottle's directions, too - nothing irresponsible. It can happen! Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 01:43, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
