bands

[edit]

I'm going ahead and adding a couple of bands that use musical saws. Each of these bands, while not extremely well-known, is notable enough for their own article, so I think it'll be ok. If anyone objects, feel free to delete them from the article, I won't sqwauk. ~ Torgo 18:11, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd like you to note too, that there are two long parts of saw playing in background in the top-five-oscars-winner movie : Fly over a cuccoo's nest, with Jack Nicholson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.18.19.12 (talk) 15:19, 23 April 2007

The followings link was dead, so I deleted it(keeping the link here just in case they come back alive or they reopen under a different URL): Musical saw video

Julian Koster

[edit]

re: "Julian Koster of Neutral Milk Hotel played the singing saw, along with various other instruments, in the band. He is now rumored to be start a singing saw orchestra." should rumors be listed? seems unencyclopedic — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.15.95.101 (talk) 19:26, 11 September 2007

Additional citations

[edit]

Why and where does this article need additional citations for verification? What references does it need and how should they be added? Hyacinth (talk) 05:31, 3 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Events, championships and world records

[edit]

As there has been a world championship in 2011 I added it and also included it in the title of this section. Sägenprofi (talk) 00:11, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Performers

[edit]

Marlene Dietrich is worth an extra section, so I added a little section about her and her saw playing. I also added two other saw players and gave some titles to reference links, which hadn't a title yet. Sägenprofi (talk) 00:14, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Composers and compositions

[edit]

I added many composers and compositions and also changed the title of this section from "Compositions" to "Composers and compositions" Sägenprofi (talk) 00:17, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Missing clause: standing sawists

[edit]

"Some sawists play standing, either with the handle between the knees and the blade sticking out in front of them."

Or what? OR WHAT?! I HAVE TO KNOW! IAmNitpicking (talk) 10:52, 3 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Dangers

[edit]

Isn't it easy to injure yourself while playing? Shouldn't be something written about this aspect? --2001:16B8:31EC:800:AC3D:29AE:958C:EEC1 (talk) 18:44, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

No. The only risk I've noticed has been to my self-esteem, as an experienced violin/viola player trying to draw a predictable musical tone from a saw blade. Just plain Bill (talk) 19:07, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

History

[edit]

Is it worth including the origins of the musical saw? I’m not knowledgable about this, I just saw the history section was quite light Alexanderkowal (talk) 23:54, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
