Sanskrit is not relevent

[edit]

Sanskrit is not relevent to any article related to Pakistan. Inclusion of Sanskrit implies that this language is still in use in Pakistan, which is completely wrong. If you insist to add Sanskrit then add it in History section with the etymology of the word Multan. But remove it from the first line of the article. Szhaider 14:45, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

After a second thought I have come to agree with Tigeroo to some extent. However, I think adding Sanskrit to first line implies that it is an alternative name of Multan which is wrong. Therefore, I have moved Sanskrit to the history section. Note that I am not censoring this information; just moving to more appropriate place to make more sense out of it. I agree with you, that Samskritham is not in use majorly in Pakistan as of now (2024). I was curious to know the etymological roots of the word Multan. It does root to Moolashtaana (the main place) where the Sindhu civilization flourished from. That being the case, I would also like to know what "Pakistan" means? If Samskritham is not to be anywhere around Multan whose very root is Moolasthaana from Samskrutham, then kindly provide your thought process around the same on what is wrong. I am open to learn more. Samskrutham does not in any way mean Hinduism FYI. We need to get to the roots of all our civilizations in order to build a society that can be united on the most common basis. Trust me, I am not a staunch religion supporter, let alone Hinduism. These religions only find ways to divide people and nothing else. I a ma hindhu by birth, but have not found anything different in me from a Muslim, or a Christian or a Jain, or a Buddist, or any other human known to the mankind. We all feel pain and pleasure the same way. We all deserve respect by default. We all get hungry at least once in a day. We all smile at a baby's smiling face no matter where we come from. All of these factors need to be considered before even attaching one's self to a religion is what I have come to learning.
Thanking you. Abhaynagaraj (talk) 18:33, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sanskrit script should be removed. It is not used in Multan let alone in Pakistan. It would be the same as me editing and puting urdu script beside Mumbai's name. Mik357 (talk) 04:22, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Under the History section after the first paragraph I would like to add more information about the city
After [Umayyad conquest of Sindh] Multan was ruled by Arabs. There is a detailed description of this city in the book [The_History_of_India,_as_Told_by_Its_Own_Historians]" by by Henry Miers Elliot & John Dowson. This is the largest city bordering Sindh & China [page 96]. [Multan Sun Temple] is dedicated to lord Agni(the sun god). It is a [Theertha kshetra |Tirtha (Hinduism)]for Hindus, as sacrate as Mecca for muhammadans. Ruler of Multan used this temple to defend the city against Indians. When Indians tried to take the city then the idol will be bought to the battlefield and threaten to burn or broke it. The Ruler of Multan didn't destroyed the the temple as it brings large annual Sums by the infidel [P96-97] Sachidananda Hullahalli (talk) 07:37, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Charliehdb (talk) 17:54, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

In the book "The History of India, as Told by Its Own Historians" Volume 1. pages 60&61 there is a detailed description of Multan. I would like to add the text below. History Origin Multan which was called Mula Sthana was a Tirtha kshetra for Hindus. It is devoted to the god Agni (sun god). every year Hindus from all parts of the world visit the place to offer their devotion to the god Agni. This brings a vast amount of sums to the temple. When the Indians make war upon them and endeavor to seize the idol, the inhabitants bring it out, pretending that they will break it and burn it. Upon this the Indians retire, otherwise, they would destroy Multan. Sachidananda Hullahalli (talk) 06:38, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
