- Modality is a property of language generally. So a clause can express modality. But a subset of words also express modality. We have an entry for modal verbs, for example. Why not an entry for the larger set that modal verbs belong to? --Brett (talk) 14:33, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

- No, it's not just about individual words. It's about utterances, statement, clauses, etc. Long live the king is modal without including a single modal word.--Brett (talk) 15:09, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
