What year was it introduced in? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.10.90.185 (talk) 10:10, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article now contains 1983 based on the published article in January 1983, but given magazine publishing lead times it is highly likely to have been available in late 1982 Roughana (talk) 02:17, 16 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Compatible cards

[edit]

The Echo + doesn't really emulate a Mockingboard. It does have two AY-3-8913s, but it is designed differently (notice in the cited pictures it has only one 6522 where the Mockingboard has two). The cited manual also doesn't claim this emulation or mention the Mockingboard anywhere that I can see. I can also confirm that games designed to be Mockingboard-compatible such as BerZap and Ultima do not play sound on my Echo +. Music Construction set supports the Echo +, but with a different driver (?) than the Mockingboard.

I guess to conclude---the Echo + is compatible in that it has two AY-3-8913s, but due to having a different design, software must be written differently for it than it would be for the Mockingboard.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Sethkushniryk (talkcontribs) 18:57, 28 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Better image?

[edit]

The images at the moment show Mockingboard clones. Does anyone have a freely-licensed image of a real Mockingboard? Adam Sampson (talk) 14:13, 7 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
