US Army Tattoo on the Elipse

The most popular mailitary Tattoo in the US has been left out. The US Army's Old Guard and Pershing's Own Band perform a series of Tattoos on the Elipse during the summer months in Washington DC. The Elipse is part of President's Park and is located just south of the White House. In the course of the summer months, hundreds of thousands of tourists attend these tattoos, and it has been a fixture of the summer tourist scene for several decades. 67.181.60.35 (talk) 18:40, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Where to [[]] tap

I don't have a strong opinion about this or a strong tie to this article, but the bit where tap gets interlinked to Beer tap---I'm not sure that's the ideal spot. Yes, it's the first time tap is written, but that's as part of a Dutch expression that won't mean much to English readers. I suggest moving it to it's first usage as an English word. The articles seem to cover the same concept, although Tattoo (bugle call) seems Anglocentric and claims this concept is UK/US limited. Interwikis were confused, there is another term used as well. Consider:

• https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q13156702 links to Military tattoo, is labelled at Wikidata as just "tattoo" and described as "musical display of armed forces"
• https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q493382 links to Tattoo (bugle call), , is labelled at Wikidata as just "taps" and described as "military musical signal, played at dusk and ceremonies; international version". Taps I assume refers to Taps (bugle call), it was missing from the above disambig
• For the record: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q14811107 - that's Taps (bugle call), at wikidata labelled as "Taps" and described as "bugle call; musical piece sounded at dusk, and at funerals (American version)"

It seems to me that while taps=/=tattoo, military tattoo=tattoo (bungle call). Merge and cleanup is needed. Wikidata entries have only two languages which contain entries for both military tattoo and tatoo (bungle call). Ours and Dutch (nl), with nl:Taptoe (militair) and nl:Taptoe (signaal). "military tattoo=tattoo (bungle call)"

Not so. A military tattoo is a public ceremony, a sort of theatrical performamce. The bugle call is a routine time signal, like a clock tower chiming the hour. Just plain Bill (talk) 08:54, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
