2- and 6-year "midterms"

[edit]

Each US party, in the course of an 8-year administration, faces two midterms, sometimes distinguished as the 2-year election and the 6-year election (within a given president's 8 years); we cover the typical pattern in the 6-year as "Six-year itch", and we might do well to discuss the distinction between that 6th year of an 8-year administration, and the six-year cycle of a senator (or of a whole "class" of senators).
