Mentemu, China, and Korea

[edit]

Menggetimur, the Jurchen tribal leader (and ancestor to Nurhaci) refused to submit to the Korean King when Korea tried to get Menggetimur and his Jurchen tribe to side with them against China, instead, Menggetimur capitulated to China and submitted as a vassal.

Mentemu or Mengtemu

[edit]

Anyway,Mentemu can be known as a given emperor of Qing dynasty, in "Qing Veritable Reecord"(清实录) which was written by Later Jin people between Wanli XI(1583) to Abkai Fulingga XI(1626), his name is covered by black ink(in both Manchurian,Chinese and Mongolian).

However, in "Manchu Veritable Record" pulblished by Liaoning Provincce's archive, it is written as "mengtemu",instead of "mentemu".
