Does this topic need to be split up? Mef2 refers to one gene in Drosophila, a family of genes in vertebrates, the name of a DNA-binding domain, and a seemingly unrelated gene in yeast (as far as I can tell). Forluvoft 23:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree that this is confusing since Mef2 refers to both a domain in the protein and the entire protein. I don't think we need to split this article up since I the article refers a family of evolutionarily related proteins. The yeast, drosophila, and vertebrate Mef2 proteins all share significant sequence identity as I hope is now clear from the graphic I recently added. Cheers.
